Dating after high school and/or college is tough. Doesn’t matter who you are… at some point you start to despise the act of dating.
Now if you follow me on Instagram, you know how committed I am to love 😂. Personally, I have outgrown my Instagram personality but my followers (and myself) have a good laugh at the dilemmas of love and loss. The truth is the side of me that struggled with relationships, plagued them too. We connect on this level and so many others.
Nonetheless, in between talks with the ones that slide into your DMs and the sexual tension you feel around #WorkBae are you perplexed about dating?
Fortunately, many of us can visualize a time when we will be laying next to our forever love. But lack the patience to live a life (dating wise) that will get us there.
Welp, here are 5 ways to date without hating it!
Group dates/Meet ups
First thing first, change your format. One on one dates aren’t the only way to get to know someone. And relating to that person in a group may be different. Plus, utilizing social group events helps plan the date for you.
Delete the app
Is there anything worse than swiping the wrong direction and missing that cutie? Yep, matching with only your “could care less” choices. I’ve realized that dating apps are just a form of social media and just like I take breaks from Facebook, I take breaks from them too.
Get to know your city
Plan activities that involve you getting lost in yourself. Visit a museum and plan to have lunch at a new restaurant downtown. If the television has taught me anything, people always fall in love when they are preoccupied 😉.
Just ask him out
It’s almost 2019 and we have choices! Women empowerment is more than just a movement, it’s your right. And if you use your power you can feel in control. So, don’t wait for a guy to ask you out.
Hire a dating expert/coach
Yep, they are real. Which is perfect, because we need help adjusting to new dating atmospheres.
Bonus: Join Black Singles Mingle
I’m happy to say I am 1/4 of Black Singles Mingle – Bae-Talk. We are a Facebook group devoted to empowering Black Love within America. Sometimes talking about our dating frustrations moves us pass our pain and into the hands of love.
